WHO AM I

MY STORY

The Beginning

I was born March 9, 2000, in Basel, Switzerland. As the son of two former proffessional athletes I got in touch with sports at very young age. I loved competing in all kind of different sports and spending time with challengges. As I was 6 years old, my parents started to play golf and gave me the opportunity to try out this funny sport with the little white ball. After a couple of swings I was so excited about hitting the ball as long as possible, that I decided to stick with this sport for a while.

At the age of 11, I started to play some Golf competitions in Switzerland. One of my first tournements were the Swiss Championships Under 12. As a newcomer I finished in a great 12th place and therfore was immediately accepted into the Swiss Junior Golf squad. The following year I won the U12 CH championships. Later on I started to practice and play more regularly and in conclusion became a Swiss Junior Champion in 2017. As Swiss U18 National Team we fought our way into the Matchpaly-Final at the European Boy’s Team Championship. We were the first Swiss Team to win a medal at this even and sensationally became Vice European Champion. !

The Game-Changer

Thanks to winning this silver medal, I received a wildcard from the Swiss Golf Federation to participate in the 2018 Omega European Master in Crans-Montana. For any young amateur golfer, this is of course an extraordinary experience, but for me it was much more than that. The feeling of standing on the first tee for the first time at a European Tour event, seeing my own name on the leaderboard and being supported by the many spectators is something I will never forget. To suddenly find myself in the midst of the best European Golf Professionals and to compete against them was very motivating. This feeling, combined with the atmosphere of this event, made me definitely realize, that this is exactly what I want to do in the future. I decided then that from now on I would increase the quantity as well as the quality of my training until I reached my goal of the full eligibility of the European Tour.

The increase ot training quantity was always connected with many adjustments in my private life. Thanks to the fact that I was allowed to join the Sports class of the Business High School in Reinach (BL) and the tireless efforts of my parents, who always support me in living out my dreams, this could always be realized. When I successfully graduated from Business High School in 2020 and was then offered a part-time job in the family business, the amount of time I spent on training and competing could be increased significantly. The creation of these professional structures made it possible for me to concentrate fully on golf since then. These changes were also responsible for the fact that my game has improved significantly since 2021, which means in particular that it is more consistant.

Since then, I have stuck to my motto and day after day, whether rain or shine, winter or summer, whether after a victory or a defeat, I just keep going step by step on my way to my destination.

Der Wechsel ins Profilager

During my 12 years as an amateur, I matured from a wild diamond to a conscientious golfer. Since I got through all those years without any major injuries, I was able to continuously improve in all aspects (technical, tactical, physical and mental) year after year. Thanks to the commitment of Swiss Golf, I have received in my last two years as an amateur several invitations to various events on the Professional Golf Tours (DP World Tour, Challenge Tour and ProGolf Tour). Playing these events I felt, that now the time has come to make the next step. For this reason, I decided in 2022 to turn a professional Golfplayer in 2023, and thus make my hobby my profession. With this step, I am now trying to turn my childhood dream into reality. I’m aware that this means that the serious side of life will begin and that winning and losing suddenly take on a completely different meaning than they did in my amateur days. But it’s precisely this pressure that fascinates me. I simply want to find out, what I can actually achieve under maximum pressure and where my limits are in this fascinating sport. MY MINDSET

“If you can’t outplay them, outwork them !”

There will be times in your life when you’re outmatched. There will always be someone better out there, but that just means you have to find other ways to beat them. The one thing you have control of is your own work ethic. You can be sure to outwork them by giving it more than they will or are able to. This extra work translates to a better ability the next time you’re matched up against them, shifting the odds of winning to your favor. So remember, all is not lost when you find yourself outplayed, you just have to remember to put in the extra work to pull off the victory.
