Wining the Swiss Golf International Championship for the first time makes me very proud. It’s not so much the victory in itself, but much more the way it came about. After my course record of 63 strokes in the first round, I had to keep the field in check as a front-runner during the remaining two rounds. Behind me, the four Italians played consecutive rounds of 68, so that my lead before the final hole melted down to one stroke. Finally I then stood on the green of the 18th hole and had a long 15-meter birdie putt for the win and direct qualification for the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana.
